Description
This impressive piece by Shuho captures the essence of the traditional ‘Taiko’ (drum) shape, featuring rows of distinct rivets (byo) near the rim and base. The glaze is a stunning mottled blue, reminiscent of the classic ‘Namako’ (sea cucumber) style, offering depths of indigo and lighter blue accents that create a dynamic, textured surface. The pot stands on sturdy cut-out feet, providing excellent stability and visual weight to balance the strong design.
The deep blue tones make this container an exceptional choice for flowering or fruiting species, such as Azalea, Quince, or Crabapple, where the glaze contrasts beautifully with blooms and berries. Its strong drum shape and solid presence also allow it to pair effectively with masculine deciduous trees like Trident Maples.
