Description
This exceptional mame or small shohin bonsai pot by Shozan showcases a masterful command of glaze and form. The “Lotus” or Mokko (lobed) shape is elegantly sculpted, with soft, rhythmic curves that mimic the petals of a flower. The finish is a stunning deep blue glaze, enriched with dark, almost black accents that pool in the crevices of the rim and body, creating a sense of depth and patina that is characteristic of high-quality Tokoname ceramics. The pot rests on subtle, decorative feet that elevate the vessel, giving it a light and airy presence despite the richness of the color.
The profound blue tones of this pot make it an excellent choice for a variety of species. It would provide a striking contrast to the white or pink blooms of a Satsuki Azalea or a Chojubai Quince. Alternatively, the dark accents allow it to harmonize beautifully with the autumn foliage of a Trident Maple, anchoring the tree while enhancing its visual impact.
