Description
The unglazed feet reveal the natural texture of the clay, offering a soft contrast to the deep, dignified navy glaze—a subtle balance of strength and warmth. The modern, stylish deep blue pairs beautifully with maples, flowering quince, or fruit-bearing trees with red or yellow berries, creating striking contrasts. Its refined form also complements the elegance of species like Japanese hornbeam or Carpinus. Even compact conifers such as Sekka Hinoki sit well in this pot, creating a harmonious, well-balanced look.
Recommended for bonsai enthusiasts seeking a modern, crisp aesthetic with quiet presence.

About the Artist:
Bigei, the art name of Hirata Atsumi (born in 1939), is a celebrated bonsai potter from the Tokoname region. He began working with ceramics in 1958 and opened his own kiln in 1975. While Bigei produced pots in a variety of shapes and sizes, his shohin-sized pots in particular have earned great acclaim. From simple, elegant forms to richly ornamented and carved designs, his creations reflect both refinement and versatility. With the closure of the Bigei kiln, no new pieces are being made, making his existing works even more treasured. This rarity, combined with the high quality and artistic detail, has made Bigei pots prized possessions among bonsai collectors and connoisseurs worldwide.
